I'm interested in learning about design and marketing. I'd love to pick up some basic design skills that will help me build my own products in the future.
Could you recommend any beginner-level tutorials or courses? Please note that I'm not a complete tech novice, as I am a senior developer.

I have been in a similar position for quite some time but got stuck in a loop - maybe it's a good time to do so too? Anyway, I admire your dedication to solo-building and courage to pursue what you deeply want, wish you the best of luck, man!
Thanks Bart! There will never be the "right time" I think, but some planning needs to be done. For starting a business like SaaS or an app I'd recommend doing it while you still have daily job, because building it and getting traction may take several months and more, or may simply not work out. In case of freelancing it's easier, shouldn't take more than ~1 month to start onboarding clients. And if you just want to have a break for a few months - that's a solid plan, we only have one life! ;)
Great news :) I'm not often jealous, but reading about someone quitting his job to pursue solopreneurship and creating own products makes me feel it a lot :D I hope I'll get there some day as well.
With some very small steps, but yes. I am a dad with a full-time job, and to be honest it's hard for me to find the energy and time to do additional work in the evenings/mornings. There's a subtle and slight edge between this and burning yourself out, which I also don't want to end up with 😅
True, I don't have children, so I can only imagine it's harder like that. But anyway, the key is to push the needle every day, even a little bit. And the results will come.

Being a dad and having a side project is really hard 😂 unless you want to push all the burden of raising up kids to your wife 😀
